Spring is in the Air.

Another wonderful day. The birds are singing and quite a few around. The Purple Finches have arrived. Chickens are on the deck laying down with the warmth of the sun on their bodies. A few pictures taken this morning. Not included in the photos but lots around are Juncos, Chick a Dees, Woodpeckers, a couple of Nuthatches, Grosbeaks and of course my friends the Crows.

Male Finch.

Female Finch.

Blue Jays.

This one seems to be saying "Hmm, which one shall I choose this time."

We are seeing the first redwing blackbirds here already. The early blackbird gets the choicest nesting spot along the creek:) No robins yet.

For some reason, we almost never see purple finches.

You have such pretty birds there, the Blue Jays look a little like our Blue Tits but at least double the size! The purple Finch looks lovely with that rosy hue.

Yes, the birds are coming back here too ... almost every day, some one new. Yesterday we saw too Killdeers in flight ... can't mistake their cry!

I love the contrast of the birds against what's left of the snow.

...spring is in the air here too, and thank goodness for that. I've had my fill of the cold weather (and I actually LOVE snow!). This morning I was outside at sunrise and the birdsong was that of a spring morning...so pretty. I wish we got Purple Finches in our yard, but I think we're just a bit too suburban. Your photos are lovely.

Great to see your birds return, Crow! Perhaps that with spring being late on this side of the pond, it will be early on your side?
Who can tell what the weather is doing these days..
Here the Rooks are already sitting on their nest!

I'm glad you're sounding so much better again, Crow. The girls must be really happy too; a bit of warmth finally!
